- Date Syrup -

When it comes to sugar, this natural sweetener is as healthy as it gets. Dried dates are naturally sweet and not as highly processed as some stevia products, agave or maple syrup.

How to use date syrup:

Date syrup fondue -
Yes, fruit dipped in a caramel-like sauce… Bye-bye chocolate.

On homemade granola -
Imagine a coconut yoghurt parfait topped with granola and… this gooey date syrup.

In smoothies -
Add a tablespoon of healthy sweetener to your vegetable smoothies instead of bananas.

Drizzled over vegan pancakes -
Nothing goes better with a big stack of vegan pancakes than sweet syrup. Add some extra water to make it more liquid.

Substitute for sugar in recipes -
Date syrup tends to be a little less sweet, but let your taste buds be your guide. Try it out & ask for specific substitutions in the comment section.

Date Syrup Recipe

  • 300ml water

  • 10 dried dates

  • 2tsp lemon juice
  • optional: 1/2 tsp cinnamon or vanilla powder

  1. Boil the water and put in a bowl with the dates. Let the dates soak until they’re nice and soft.
  2. Put the soaked dates with the lemon juice (and optional ingredients) in a blender. It’s important to add the water they soaked in, because it contains a lot of the sweetness.
  3. Blend on full speed until you have a smooth paste / syrup. Use it as a thick paste for sugar substitutions, or add some more water for a liquid syrup.
